Introduction

Kyrgyzstan is a mountainous Central Asian nation and a participating country in the Belt and Road Initiative. AERI's research reveals that Kyrgyzstan, with its gold mining potential, agricultural resources, and growing trade with China, offers niche investment opportunities.

In 2024, GDP approximately USD 14 billion, growth of 6.2%. Population approximately 7 million. China-Kyrgyzstan bilateral trade reached USD 20 billion in 2024. The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project is a key BRI initiative.

Area: 199,951 km². Capital: Bishkek. Population approximately 7 million. Currency: Som (KGS). WTO member with relatively open trade regime.


Part II: Investment Environment

Corporate tax 10%. VAT 12%. Foreign investment protected by law. Free economic zones offer additional incentives. Kumtor gold mine is the largest foreign investment project.


Part III: Chinese Enterprise Investment

Key projects: China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, mining investments, trade infrastructure at Irkeshtam and Torugart ports.
